A typical day is between 70-80 degrees during the day and 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit at night. May through October are the rainy months and it can rain a lot.

Diseases from food and water are the leading cause of illness in travelers. Follow these tips for safe eating and drinking:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially before eating. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand gel (with at least 60% alcohol).
- Drink only bottled or boiled water, or carbonated (bubbly) drinks in cans or bottles. Avoid tap water, fountain drinks, and ice cubes. If this is not possible, learn how to make water safer to drink.
- Do not eat food purchased from street vendors.
- Make sure food is fully cooked.
- Avoid dairy products, unless you know they have been pasteurized.
Diseases from food and water often cause vomiting and diarrhea. Make sure to bring diarrhea medicine with you so that you can treat mild cases yourself.

It is not uncommon for a visitor to the farm to get a stomach problem while in Guatemala. We at the Yoga Farm are doing everything we can to keep people healthy and we need your help. Please take responsibility for your health while traveling in Guatemala and while at the farm.

Upon arrival make sure you understand steps you can take to stay healthy. And also know that only you can be responsible for your own health.
We have a few recommendations to consider before you fly.
1. Paragone: this supplement will cleanse your system of unwanted parasites as well as prime your digestive system for while you are traveling in Guatemala or other areas of central and South America. This product can be found at most health foods stores such as Whole Foods. You may choose to take it for a few days before you leave and while you are in the country to guarantee yourself a strong digestive system. You may also want to bring an extra pack in your bag in case you are affected by parasites during your visit to Guatemala.
2. Probiotics: You may want to prime your digestive flora with some probiotics before you leave for Guatemala and tuck some away in your luggage to have with you while you travel. New Chapter has a great high quality probiotic another in expensive option is Pearls Probiotics.
3. Grapefruit Seed Extract or other water treatment: You will want to wash all fruits and vegetables before cooking them or eating them raw. This can be done by washing them in a bowl with a couple drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract or other water purification solution such as iodine or chlorine bleach (always be sure to not use more than the recommended amounts!)
4. Personal Water Filter or SteriPen: This is an optional item that is nice to have. It is suggested to only drink, brush teeth and cook with bottled water, or clean water that you have treated in some way.
